Dan Cumming - 1945 - 2018

BC Athletics is saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Dan Cumming an athlete, coach, event organizer, volunteer, writer, friend, and overall great contributor to sport. Dan Cumming passed away on November 30, 2018 after a training run in Jamaica where he was scheduled to take part in the 10km road race as part of the Reggae Marathon, an event he loved and had taken part in many times in the past.

Dan Cumming was well known in the running community as a Sun Run InTraining Clinic Coordinator, run clinic leader with Forerunners, the co-editor of the book “Running In the Zone”, and having served as the former Race Director for the First Half Half Marathon. Over the years Dan had numerous club associations including the Penticton Pounders, Pacific Road Runners, and Semiahmoo Sunrunners. Dan was known for being passionate about two things: people and running and his enthusiasm and positive outlook were known to be infectious to those around him.

BC Athletics extends its condolences and support to Dan’s family and friends.

A celebration of life has been set for Sunday, 1:00pm January 13, 2019, at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre (14831 28th Ave, Surrey, BC). In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Terry Fox Foundation, as Dan was a huge fan of Terry's.
