Kamloops Indoor Track & Field Facility - Major Upgrade Completed

Kamloops, BC

February 2, 2018 – for immediate release

The City of Kamloops is excited to announce that the Tournament Capital Centre (TCC) Fieldhouse upgrade is now complete. The updated Fieldhouse features a completely resurfaced indoor track and a third hardwood court. The new track is a premium Mondo Track surface, the international standard for competition. This synthetic rubber surface is expected to last 20 years. In addition to the new surface material, which is now blue, grey, and green, the lanes were also widened to meet current international standards, and two more sprint lanes were added. The 200 m, six-lane track now features ten 60 m sprint lanes.

“Other than the two pre-existing hardwood courts, everything on the floor was stripped out and replaced with Olympic-standard materials,” says Jeff Putnam, Parks and Civic Facilities Manager. “We continue to invest in our infrastructure to ensure these facilities support our citizens, athletes, and visitors for years to come. “

Gary Reed "The new track at TCC has one of the world's fastest surfaces, this represents an excellent opportunity for athletes to produce high caliber results right in their own back yard" (Reed won six Canadian titles in the 800-metres and represented Canada in two Olympics, in 2004 and 2008).

The Gary Reed Indoor, Feb 9-10, 2018 is set start at 7:30 pm Friday evening. For contact and entry information and the meet schedule see: 2018 Gary Reed Indoor Track & Field Meet.
