Please review carefully and note the following changes from previous years. Links to maps are provided where applicable.
All new first half of route since 2008. New start location at Brown Avenue and 223 Street. Heading west as far as 216 Street before turning north and then east. See Leg 1 map.
Only one vehicle per team will be permitted past the intersection of Dewdney Trunk Rd and Wilson St. Vehicles without passes will be directed down Wilson St to Lougheed Hwy, returning to the race route near the end of Leg 3.
Leg 4 is a restricted area closed to ALL H2H runner vehicles and event traffic except volunteers with Leg 4 Volunteer passes. Only these, plus local resident and business traffic, will be allowed anywhere on Leg 4. See Bypass 4 map. Event designated safety vehicles will patrol the restricted area.
New since 2008: Local traffic only on Nicomen Island Trunk Road — no race vehicles. Bypass to Exchange 5 along Lougheed.
On Leg 5 at the Sterling Road intersection with Lougheed, runners stay on the right side of the Lougheed Highway and continue on the right side to Exchange 5. This is the only exception to the "stay on the left" rule.
Restrooms at the Sasquatch Inn are for paying customers only. There are portapotties outside for use by runners. Please do not use these restrooms for change rooms!
NEW CUT OFF TIME FOR RUNNERS LEAVING EXCHANGE #6
Due to the impending darkness and safety concerns of the racers, the race committee and the
RCMP are implementing the following rules for the Exchange 6 runner start time:
LAST TIME A RUNNER MAY DEPART: Leg 7 runners waiting to depart at Exchange 6 (Sasquatch Inn) will not be permitted to start if their Leg 6 runner has not arrived by 3:30 pm. There will not be a forced start — leg 7 runners will not be permitted to run after 3:30 pm.
If your team registered with 10+ hours predicted time you will be starting at 6:00 am to help get you to Exchange #6 before the cut off. Please note this decision was made to keep all runners safe on the H2H race course. All official race start times will be posted by October 25th.
As in previous years, at 3:30 pm all Leg 8 runners still waiting at Exchange 7 will start whether or not their Leg 7 runners have arrived. This will be a controlled start by the timing company to ensure all teams are timed correctly.
If the Leg 7 runner has not arrived yet, at 3:20 pm the Leg 8 runner will be given a second team ChampionChip for timing.
Timing ChampionChip handout will be held in the tent assigned for Timing Chips Hand-out (see map).
After Leg 8 runner receives assigned second timing ChampionChip, he/she is allowed to proceed to the Timing Tent, swipe the chip on timing mat and IMMEDIATELY START Leg 8.
Leg 8 and the finish were altered in 2008 due to bridge construction. Stay tuned for 2010 updates.
