BC Athletics is pleased to announce that a portion of the proceeds from the Haney to Harrison Road Relay and 100 km Ultra Event will be donated to and shared equally amongst the Food Banks in areas through which the Relay and Ultra Run take place. See how successful this was in 2006. The Food Banks identified through the Food Banks of British Columbia listing are:
The association of Athletics / Running with the Food Banks links directly with the need for nutritious food for a healthy and physically active lifestyle. Providing financial support to the Food Banks means that for each dollar donated the Food Banks can buy $3.00 worth of food.
In addition to this financial contribution BC Athletics is asking that if possible each H2H participant and/or collectively each team bring a non-perishable food item(s) to donate to the Food Bank. BC Athletics will ensure that these items are delivered to the Food Banks as identified or as arranged for following the event.
For those who can donate a food item(s) your name or team name will be entered into a draw for H2H Prizes. Winners will be announced in the 2 weeks following the event. Prizes in 2006 included: H2H Souvenir Garments; ASICS products; H2H Hoodies; Timex Watches; and Other Sport Items.
When dropping off the
non-perishable food item(s) please be sure to attach a completed H2H Food
Donation Form
. Leave it with the Coordinator of the H2H Food Bank Food
Donations.
November 2006: On behalf of the H2H Organizing Committee and the BC Athletics Board of Directors I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the H2H and Ultra entrants who donated non-perishable food items at the H2H Food Bank collection points (start, finish and awards ceremony). With only a few days notice the response was absolutely terrific - over 150 kilograms / 330 lbs of food collected. These items will be shared amongst the Food Banks of Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows; Mission (which also covers Deroche); and Agassiz / Harrison.

In addition to the Non-perishable Food donations, $5020.00 (H2H proceeds of $5000 + $20 cash donation) will be shared amongst the Food Banks as noted above. This cash donation will provide $15,060.00 worth of food as for every $1 donated the Food Banks are able to realize $3 in food value.
