2014 Athletes of the Year


Canadian Masters Athletics is requesting nominations for athletes to be named as the Canadian Masters Athletes of the Year for 2014.

For the year 2014, four athletes will be named the recipients of these annual awards, on the following basis:
1) There will be one winner in each of four categories, without reference to gender. Therefore, the winner in each category could be either a male or a female.
2) The four categories in which we will make awards will be the following:
           a) Individual Field events;
           b) Individual Track events (including Relays);
           c) Combined Events (including the Throws Pentathlon); and
           d) Non-Stadia events (Cross Country, Road Races and Road Race Walks).

The CMA is requesting members to nominate any CMA members for these awards. Any member who wishes to make a nomination is asked to provide the following information about his or her nominee:
          a) Name of the athlete;
          b) The province in which the athlete resides;
          c) The Category for which you wish to nominate the athlete;
          d) The age group(s) in which the athlete competed in 2014;
          e) Details of any major achievements by the athlete in 2014, including dates and performances achieved as follows:
                1) Canadian or World records set by the athlete;
                2) Placings by the athlete in either Canadian, World or other major Championships; and
                3) Significant age-grading achievements by the athlete in 2014; and
          f) Any other relevant awards received by the athlete during 2014.

Please provide the above information about each athlete whom you wish to nominate, by email to: Vern Christensen, CMA Vice-President, at vchristensen@guardiancapital.com , by February 28, 2015. The decision on the winners of the awards, if any, will be made by the CMA Board, and announced publicly, in March, 2015.

The winners will be invited to receive their awards at either the Athletics Canada Awards Gala scheduled to be held during the AC Junior/Senior Championships from July 2 to 5 in Edmonton, or the CMA Awards Banquet, scheduled to be held during the CMA Outdoor Championships on July 17th in St. Catharines, ON, or at another appropriate time chosen by the recipient.
