Cooke joins Vancouver Thunderbirds

The Vancouver Thunderbirds are pleased to announce a final coaching appointment to complete this stage of their program and coaching restructuring, these changes being made to more fully integrate into a community partnership with the University of British Columbia. Andrew Cooke has been appointed as a coach for sprints and hurdles, ages 14 and up, to work closely with Mary Chewing and Laurier Primeau. In previous announcements Mary and Chris Johnson were appointed lead coaches for the varsity team but will still continue to coach the more high performance club athletes. They will work under Laurier Primeau as Head Coach UBC Track and Field.

Andrew is from Vancouver and has been involved with Track & Field since the age of 6, and was most recently the Sprints Coach and President of another Lower Mainland track and field club. As a hurdler he competed at the provincial and national levels and for UBC. He utilizes his experiences from competing, learning from great coaches, and certification through NCCP to help develop athletes from midget level and above.
