Olga Kotelko - 1919 - 2014

Olga Kotelko – March 2, 1919 – June 24, 2014

It is with great sadness that BC Athletics has learned of the sudden passing of Olga Kotelko on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the age of 95.

Olga, whose life was full of sport, physical activity, good nutrition, family, friends, travel and fun was a role model for many and the subject of physiological studies, magazine and newspaper articles and the author of two books “What Makes Olga Run” and “Olga: The OK Way to a Healthy, Happy Life”.

Starting Track & Field at the age of 77 Olga competed successfully at local, provincial, national and internationally competitions setting records at every level of the sport with 15 outdoor and 19 indoor Age-Group World Records to her credit.

Olga truly lived “Sport for Life” and will be remembered and missed by the many people she met and inspired throughout her life.

  • Prayers for Olga will be on Wednesday, July 2 at 7 pm.
  • Funeral will be on Thursday, July 3 at 10 am.
  • Both will be at St Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 550 14th Avenue West, Vancouver, BC (Near City Hall)
