Taunya Geelhoed Moves to FIFA Women's World Cup 2015

After almost five years with BC Athletics, the majority of which was leading and growing the Run Jump Throw Program in British Columbia and since 2011 coordinating the Athletics Canada First Contact/Grassroots initiatives with the Run Jump Throw and Hershey Youth Track & Field Programs, Taunya has accepted a position as the Venue Marketing Manager for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015 in Vancouver.

“Under Taunya’s leadership the BC Run Jump Throw Program has evolved to be the best in Canada; creating a model of partnerships, innovation and quality programming. We have been very fortunate to have had Taunya drive this program and take it to where it is today. Her commitment to the program, attention to detail and the engagement of quality RJT leaders in communities, schools, universities, regional centres and clubs throughout BC have been instrumental in making the program such a success and is all a testimonial to Taunya’s skills and abilities. We have truly benefited well beyond the RJT Program by having Taunya as part of the Athletics family. Her contributions to marketing, communications and annual meetings provincially and nationally have been extremely valuable in developing and growing Athletics provincially and nationally,” said Brian McCalder, BC Athletics Pres/CEO.

“FIFA 2015 is fortunate to have such a quality person join their staff,” he concluded.

Taunya finishes up on Friday, January 10 and starts another chapter in her career, a career that we know will be marked by success!
