World Youth Qualifiers and Western Canada Summer Games

BC Athletics has confirmed with Athletics Canada, that athletes selected to a World Youth Team must compete at the 2015 Canadian Legion Youth Track & Field Championships, no exceptions.  If a youth athlete, who has declared for the World Youth Team, is selected for the Western Canada Games team, that athlete will remain on the team roster until their selection to the World Youth Team is announced/finalized.  If an athlete is selected to a World Youth Team, then that athlete will be replaced with another athlete in any of the events should they decide to accept their World Youth selection. Therefore, an “Alternates” list will be posted along with the selected team.

BC Junior Team Standards Clarification

As in previous in accordance with Canadian Junior Championships Entry Standards, BC Athletics will allow performances in the following events for team selection:

  • 3000m for 5000m at Championships
  • 2000mSC for 3000mSC at Championships

Standards in these events are based off of IAAF Point comparisons.  Please contact the Technical Manager for Track & Field at garrett.collier@bcathletics.org if you have any questions.
