BC Athletics Officials Newsletter March 2012

Hi Officials, It has been some time since I have sent a Newsletter to all of you hard working souls, but I promise that I have not been idle (though you wouldn’t know it by looking at my garden). First, a HUGE THANK YOU to the great many of you who completed the NOC survey. We had close to 100 BC Officials who sent in their responses. If this had been a Province vs. Province competition to see which group of Officials returned the most surveys, I am sure BC would have won. I know that we are all looking forward to hearing about the results of the survey and learning if we will be pointed in the direction of taking on new initiatives or perhaps revising established procedures. Two Level 2 Officials’ Clinics have so far been presented this year, one in Kamloops and one in Nanaimo. Thank you to all who attended, either as Officials wishing to upgrade their status, as a refresher or because they are Senior Officials who wish to offer even more of their time by becoming Clinic Presenters themselves. I know that setting aside the time required to attend a Clinic is not easy and your efforts to do so are applauded. We are planning for several National Level Clinics later on this year (for Starters, Vertical Jumps, Umpires). Information about the Starters’ Workshop is already posted on the Officials’ Website (as well as below). I hope to have more information about the other Clinics before too long. We will make every effort to respond to the need for Clinics in a number of areas in the Province. If you are aware of a need for a Clinic in your area, please let us know. Provincial Training Strategy Remember we are still looking for the following individuals in all areas of the Province: * Level 4 and 5 Officials who wish to train as Level 2 workshop presenters. * Level 4 and 5 Officials who would be willing to take on assignments as Provincial Mentors (provide mentoring for Officials wishing to upgrade to Levels 2 and 3) * Level 3, 4 and 5 Officials interested in training as Level 1 Workshop presenters. Interested Officials should contact Bill Koch (Bill Koch - willkoch@telus.net) Participants will be given practical experience and coaching on Start teams during the Langley Pacific Meet, June 15-17. Registration Form: HERE Congratulations to Kathy Terlicher on the birth of her second granddaughter, Ava Joy, a beautiful wee sister for Mya.
