Nick Walker and Melissa Ross Crowned Vancouver Island Series Champions

Cedar 12K wrapped up the Vancouver Island Race Series on April 9 with Nick Walker and Melissa Ross winning the final race and the overall series.

Walker final point tally was 811.2. Second in the men’s standings was Dusty Spiller with 803.2 and third, Mark Cryderman with 787 points. Cryderman was also top Master.

Ross won the women’s standings and was third overall with 794 points. Second in the female standings was Sara Kelly (739.6) and third and top female master was Yanna Debelic with 733.6 points.

Series age groups are determined by age as of Dec 31, 2017. The winners were:

In the club standings, Prairie Inn Harriers won with 2,902 points. Comox Valley Road Runners were second with 2,287 points, and Ceevacs Road Runners placed third with 2,213.

Eight races comprised the 2017 Island Series: the Harriers Pioneer 8K, Cobble Hill 10K, Sooke River 10K, Hatley Castle 8K, Synergy Health Management Bazan Bay 5K, Comox Valley RV Half Marathon, Port Alberni Paper Chase 10K and the Cedar 12K and Series Awards.
