Weekend Road & Trail Running Round Up
It was a great weekend for running with athletes from across the Province taking to the streets and trails to participate in BC Athletics Sanctioned events.
VFAC Summerfast 10k
402 runners took to Stanley Park paths for the Vancouver Falcons Athletic Club’s Summerfast 10k on Saturday morning. The sanctioned and certified event is part of the Lower Mainland Road Race Series and the BC Super Series. The men’s race saw a tie, between Rob Watson and Dylan Wykes in 32:09, both of the Mile2Marathon club. The women’s race was won by Stephie Penny Cook in 34:27, visiting from Scotland and it being just her second 10k race ever, the win was a surprise for her.

Sport Chek Kamloops Marathon
Over 400 runners took to the roads in Kamloops for the Sport Chek Kamloops Marathon, Half, 8km and 3km events. The event is sanctioned by BC Athletics, the Marathon and Half course have certified measured courses. Making the marathon eligible as a Boston Marathon qualifier. The marathon saw Ian McKinley and Rika Hatachi take the win.

MEC Vancouver Road Race FIVE
Running on the Foreshore Trail from Riverfront Park in south Vancouver, 374 runners finished the 5k and 10k events. Next up is Road Race SIX, at Garry Point Park on September 30, with a 5k, 10k, Half and full Marathon.
Pride Run and Walk
Hosted by the Vancouver Frontrunners, 333 runners took to Stanley Park for the Pride Run & Walk in both 10k and 5k options.
Morice Mountain Run
Rounding out the BC Athletics sanctioned events this weekend was the second annual Morice Mountain Run in Houston, BC. A challenging 22.5km course with lots of vert. See race site for more information.
