2004 Communications REPORTwww.bcathletics.orgThe BC Athletics office continues to develop and improve the website in order that it serve as a "one-stop-shop" for all the association needs. Our website is arguably the best of its kind in our sport in Canada thanks to our extremely talented and hard working webmaster, Teresa Nightingale. The office strives to keep information as current as is possible and this in itself is becoming a full time job. The website is set up for two way communication between the BC Athletics office and the membership with live email links (Contact Us page) , and electronic communication forms (Feedback Form) that visitors to the site can utilize to get in touch with the office and send comments. For the second year we are utilizing the website for the dissemination of information regarding the BC Athletics Annual General Meetings. Forms and reports (received) along with other pertinent information have been posted on the website beginning in November. This format allows for the membership and delegates to receive committee reports with enough time to fully digest them before the meetings begin. Most BC Athletics forms are available in .pdf and on-line format on the website now. Eventually all of the forms will be posted on the website with the option of printing out the form or submitting it electronically. The website continues to develop and will be an ongoing process. BC Athletics BulletinThis will be the third year for the electronic bulletin put out by the BC Athletics office on a weekly basis. The BCAB is meant to be an information source rather than an advertising venue for events which our electronic Calendar of Events addresses. Last minute changes to sanctioned events listed in our calendar and critical update information will however, be broadcasted through the BCAB as time is usually a factor. An example of this was an alert for the extreme heat expected at the JD Track & Field Championships this summer. Clinics and workshops will also be included as they are not normally listed in the calendar. The BCAB is posted each Friday with a deadline of Thursday noon to guarantee inclusion. Items should be sent to sam.collier@bcathletics.org. The format required is to keep it as simple as possible - use capital letters and bolding only where emphasis is required (titles etc.) - use Arial or Times New Roman fonts and use Word or Notepad so we can cut and paste.
