BC Summer Games Report 2006
This summer the BC Summer Games will be held at the new athletics
facility in Kamloops from July 27th to 30th, 2006. Planning is now going
on for the various Zone Trials which will be held in the 8 zones around
the province. General information on the BC Summer Games and details of
the events, zones, and team structure, etc. can be found on the BC Games
website at www.bcgames.org. Further
information on the Zone Trials and how to contact the Zone
Representatives will be posted on the BC Athletics website at www.bcathletics.org.
General Rules
- This year all athletes must be born in 1991 or 1992 and must hold
some form of competitive membership in BC Athletics.
- Athletes must compete at the Zone Trials for the zone in which
they live.
- Each zone team will be made up of 30 athletes [15 female and 15
male]. An additional 48 positions will be distributed to teams based
on performances at the zone trials.
- A total of 288 athletes will participate for Athletics.
- The team staff will consist of 1 coach who is fully certified at
NCCP Level 2 and 3 assistant coaches/managers.
- All zone trials must be completed by June 11, 2006.
- Proposed team lists must be with the Provincial Advisor by June
21, 2006.
- The final entry deadline for athletes to be registered with BC
Games Society will be Monday, June 26, 2006.
Changes for 2006
- This year all of the athlete registration for the zone teams will
be done over the internet so it is critical that all athletes make
sure that their contact information is correct when attending the
zone trials.
- There will be no changes to the listed events or the team
formation.
- Changes will be made to the schedule allow for smoother running of
the meet and the efficient use of the volunteers and officials.
- Events will be rescheduled to allow more separation between the
heats and the finals.
