BC Team Selected for Canada Summer Games
July 27/05—BC Athletics has announced a team of 50
athletes and 7 coaches that will participate in the Canada Summer
Games taking place at Regina, Saskatchewan from August 6th to
August 20th.
The Canada Summer Games is a quadrennial event featuring 16
sports contested by teams and individuals representing their
respective province. Athletics team members are aged 23 and under
who have not participated on a senior national team. The Games is
a stepping stone for many athletes who are making the transition
from a high school and university athlete, to the international
stage of competition.
The BC Canada Summer Games Team is strong in all events, but
here are some names to watch out for:
- Mike Mason - 2004 World Junior High Jump Champion, 2005 SEC
Indoor, 2005 Outdoor High Jump Champion and 2005 SEC Freshman
of the Year - University of Kentucky
- Krista Woodward - 2005 NCAA Javelin finalist (4th) -
University of Georgia
- Emily Sheppard - 2005 World Youth Team Member and Canadian
Youth High Jump Record Holder
- Mark Ramos - 2005 Canadian Senior Championships Long Jump
Silver medallist
- Kevin Lim - 2005 World Youth Team Member and Canadian Youth
400m Record Holder
- Whitney Wellington - 2003 & 2005 World Youth Team Member
- Meredith MacGregor - 2004 World Junior Team Member and 2004
Canadian Junior 2000m S/C Champion
- Curtis Moss - 2004 & 2005 BC High School Javelin
Champion and Record Holder & 2004 Canadian Junior Javelin

- Lauren Welch - 2005 NAIA silver medallist in the 400mH &
