2005 BC Athletics AwardsOfficialsIain FisherIan McNeil Award Coquitlam, BC One of the longest serving officials in BC. He is an International level Starters Assistant and Call Room Manager, and has been invited to participate in many National and International Championships in Canada. In 2005 he acted as a Technical advisor and Officials Manager for the Canadian Cross-Country Championships. He was Chief Starters Assistant for the Harry Jerome International Track Classic, and for a full season of invitational and local meets. Chief Starter and officials manager for Burnaby twilight meets. He has been a competitive athlete all his life, and trains for Masters cross country and road racing. Dave HopkinsRalph Coates Memorial Award Victoria, BC Dave Hopkins has done outstanding work at all levels of the sport for almost 20 years. He has been selected as a Technical Official for many National and International level meets. Dave's leadership for officials and volunteers at Vancouver Island age class meets is widely recognized. To quote one of his many fans: "He is always on the front lines and no job is too small or too insignificant for him. He is the first one there and the last one to leave. He treats everyone with respect and is constantly teaching us all." Michele PeacockMary Temple Award Kamloops, BC Michele has only three years experience, but demonstrates the talents and leadership ability needed by a horizontal jumps official. She comes early and stays late. She can take an unruly mob of athletes, coaches and parents and shape them up into a first class event. Michele Peacock is tireless, cheerful and energetic.
