BC Athletics Athlete of the Year Awards

Must meet the membership requirement in the current year for the category nominated:

  • Midget 15: Age 15
  • Youth: Ages 16 & 17
  • Junior: Ages 18 & 19
  • Senior: Ages 20 +
  • Master: Ages 35 +

Cross Country Awards:

Coordinated by the BC Athletics Cross Country Committee
Male and Female – Midget 15, Youth, Junior, Senior and Master age divisions
Cross Country Awards Criteria (except Masters) (PDF)

Road Running Awards: 

Coordinated by the BC Athletics Road Running Committee
Male and Female – Junior, Senior and Master age divisions

Track & Field Awards: 

Coordinated by the BC Athletics Track & Field Committee
Male and Female – Midget 15, Youth, Junior, Senior and Master age divisions

Athlete with a Disability:

Coordinated by the BC Athletics Track & Field Committee
Male and Female – not limited to any specific age

BC Athletics Excellence in Coaching Awards

Coaches can be nominated in only one category.

Junior Development Coach:

Coordinated by the BC Athletics Junior Development Committee
Coaching athletes from 9 to 14 years of age

Senior Coach:

Coordinated by the BC Athletics Track & Field Committee
Coaching athletes 15 & over, none of whom were selected to a Canadian Senior Team in current year

High Performance Coach:

Coordinated by the BC Athletics Track & Field Committee
Coaching athletes selected to Canadian teams in current year

BC Athletics Executive of the Year Award

Coordinated by the BC Athletics Board of Directors
Outstanding Individual/Group who made a significant contribution in current year at the Provincial and/or National Level

BC Athletics Officials Awards 2012

  • Ian McNeil Award: Official of the Year
  • Mary Temple Memorial Award: Novice Official of the Year
  • Ralph Coates Memorial Award: Long Standing Service
  • Dave Coupland Award: Inspiration Award

Jane Swan Award

Coordinated by the BC Athletics Junior Development Committee

  • Presented to an outstanding volunteer for long time service to the young Junior Development athletes of our province. In honour of Jane who gave so much to track and field in BC.
