you have a chance, stop by and have a look at (and even try out) the new
Rekotan surface with its freshly painted lines. Long and triple jumpers
will be pleased as new trays and boards have been installed so the
horizontal jumpers will now have a solid take-off and those event venues
should be ready for some great performances. Thanks go to the Abbotsford

Prize money for 2003 BC Open Cross Country Championships and Team
Trials
BC Athletics is pleased to announce that together with the Vancouver
International Marathon Society, prize money will be provided to Men's and
Women's Open and Masters Age groups in the upcoming Provincial Cross
Country Championships. In a partnership with the Vancouver International
Marathon Society, BC Athletics is reinvesting a portion of the Day of
Event Membership Fees from the 2003 Adidas Vancouver International
Marathon into prizing for Long Distance Running and in this case the Cross
Country Championships. "The investment is a good step forward and
complements the prizing provided by BC Athletics for the Half Marathon
Race in the 2003 Adidas Vancouver International Marathon", stated
Brian McCalder, BC Athletics President/CEO. "It is a bold step for BC
Athletics to be putting up prize money however the expected benefits and
incentives from reinvestment are very much worth it," McCalder
concluded. Look for more details shortly on the BC Athletics website.
