IN MEMORY OF BOB BALDWIN
Bob Baldwin, a longtime teacher at Kerrisdale Elementary School and an avid supporter of track and field passed away Monday after years of battling cancer. He never gave up right to the end and was even out watching the kids he used to coach at the BC High School Cross Country Championships on November 1st and at the Kerrisdale school soccer finals the same week.
Bob spent years and countless hours coaching the kids at Kerrisdale to win numerous BC Elementary Championships at the Kajaks meet and Kerrisdale school was the biggest supporter of the Sun Run not only with the largest number of elementary students running but also raising plenty of funds too.
Bob while not a Track and Field athlete himself saw the benefits of a running program to the athletic development of his students and as a physical education teacher he was second to none. Every morning during track season he would be out on the Kerrisdale school fields coaching kids to hurdle, jump, throw and run relays. He had a running club that ran twice a week all year to prepare for the Sun Run and the Child Run for Children's Hospital. He also coached soccer, volleyball and basketball to his students.
Bob will be greatly missed by his students - past and present, his fellow coaches and the sporting community he served so well.
