COACHING MENTOR/APPRENTICE PROGRAM (For Female Apprentices)
We are accepting applications for mentors and apprentice coaches for
sports in competition at the 2008 BC Summer Games in Kelowna.
Application Deadline: on or before midnight September 15th, 2007.
ProMOTION Plus, Coaches Association of BC and the BC Games Society have
joined forces to address the inequity in the number of male and female
coaches in the sport system. Our new Coach Mentor/Apprentice program will
pair up experienced (female or male) coaches with women who are interested
in pursuing a career in coaching or in developing their training to a
higher level. The goal is to increase the number of qualified female
coaches starting at the club and provincial level and moving toward the
national and international level in the future. The Program will select up
to 10 mentors and pair them with 10 female apprentices across the
province. They will be chosen from sports which will be in competition at
BC Summer Games in Kelowna in 2008.

Children's Fitness Tax Credit Information
The Children's Tax Credit is an initiative put forth by the Government
of Canada to provide some financial relief to parents to pay for the
rising cost of organized sports, in order to keep our children involved in
physical activity. The form can be found on the BC Athletics website at www.bcathletics.org/main/pdf/cftc_form.doc
Below are the instructions (also available from the above link) for
filling out the form.

The receipt number includes the child's BC Athletics membership number
preceded by the applicable year – example: 2007-95-24187

Registration and membership costs can include the costs of
administration, instruction and the rental of facilities. If the fees
charged to parents include part for accommodation, travel, food, or
beverages then this part must be deducted when calculating the part of the
fees that qualify for the tax credit. For example if club membership fees
total $400 and includes a charge of $50 for travel and $50 for a club
