Membership gives you benefits and supports Athletics in British Columbia. The strength of the organization is the membership of individuals, clubs, schools and organizations throughout the province. It is through the membership that BC Athletics is able to continue the growth and development of Athletics from recreational fun, fitness and participation to World and Olympic levels of achievement. Who can be a member of BC Athletics?
BC Athletics membership is open to all residents of BC living inside the province and those living outside the province due to school or employment. Contact the BCA office for information regarding eligibility to take part in some BCA and Athletics Canada programs regulated by the requirement to be either a Canadian citizen or a Landed Immigrant — ie: BC and Canadian Team programs and BC and Canadian funding programs.
Individual Membership Application Process
BC Athletics Affiliated Club Members:
All members of BC Athletics affiliated clubs submit their BC Athletics membership applications directly to their club Registrar for processing.
Unattached BC Athletics Members:
Unattached members sign up directly with BC Athletics using a printed membership form or by using the on-line BC Athletics Membership application form on the BC Athletics website (temporarily unavailable).

Trackie.me Requirements for BC Athletics Affiliated Clubs
Clubs are required to submit a waiver for each individual who has access to Trackie.me prior to September 1st each year in order to have access to club membership information for each membership year. 2013 Trackie.me Club Access Waiver Form
. You will not be able to enter memberships for the new year until the waiver is submitted and all ACDirect 2012 invoices for the previous membership year are paid. Forms can be mailed in to the BC Athletics office, faxed to (604) 333-3551 or emailed to sam.collier@bcathletics.org.

Individual Membership Application 2013
New Members to BC Athletics:
First time BC Athletics members applying for membership after August 31st will receive an extended membership valid from the application date through to the end of the following year. Age is calculated as of December 31st in the following year.
Renewing Members with BC Athletics:
- Renewing members who held a membership in the previous year receive a membership valid from the application date through to the end of the current year. Age is calculated as of December 31st in the current year.
- Renewing BC Athletics members who were not members in the previous membership year and apply after August 31st will receive an extended membership valid from the application date through to the end of the following year. Age is calculated as of December 31st in the following year.
NOTE: BCA club members submit your applications to your club registrar for processing. Unattached members submit applications directly to BCA.
Terms & Conditions
- Membership year: January 1st through to December 31st
- Memberships are not pro-rated
- First time members applying after August 31st receive an extended membership valid from the application date through to the end of the following year. Age is calculated as of December 31st in the following year
- Renewing members who were not members in the previous membership year applying after August 31st receive an extended membership valid from the application date through to the end of the following year. Age is calculated as of December 31st in the following year.

- Multiple memberships pay the single highest fee over all types applied for
- Memberships can be upgraded during the year
- HST is included in fees as indicated
- Performances are only recognized if the athlete has a current, competitive membership in place at the time the performance is achieved.
- Criminal Records Checks are required for Coach, Official and Associate memberships as noted
BC Athletics Zones
BC Athletics follows the BC Summer Games zones structure in identifying the 8 zones used for membership within the association. Each individual member identifies his/her zone when completing a BC Athletics membership form.
Kootenays (Zone 1)
Regional Districts of Central Kootenay, East Kootenay, Kootenay Boundary and Electoral Area A of Columbia-Shuswap Regional District, and including major centres: Castlegar, Cranbrook, Creston, Fernie, Golden, Grand Forks, Kimberley, Nelson, Radium, Rossland, and Trail.
Thompson-Okanagan (Zone 2)
Regional Districts of Central Okanagan, Columbia-Shuswap (excluding Electoral Area A), North Okanagan, Okanagan-Similkameen, Thompson-Nicola, and Electoral Areas A and B of the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District, and including major centres: Armstrong, Ashcroft, Enderby, Kamloops, Kelowna, Lillooet, Merritt, Peachland, Penticton, Revelstoke, Salmon Arm, Summerland, Vernon, and Westbank.
Fraser Valley (Zone 3)
Regional Districts of Fraser Valley, Dewdney Alouette, and Fraser-Cheam, and including major centres: Abbotsford, Anmore, Belcarra, Chilliwack, Coquitlam, Hope, Langley, Maple Ridge, Mission, Pitt Meadows, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Surrey, and White Rock.
Fraser River-Delta (Zone 4)
The City of Burnaby, the District of Delta, the City of New Westminster, and the City of Richmond.
Vancouver-Squamish (Zone 5)
The Regional Districts of Squamish-Lillooet (excluding Electoral Areas A and B), Sunshine Coast, Electoral Area A of the Greater Vancouver Regional District, the Village of Lions Bay, the City of North Vancouver, the District of North Vancouver, the City of Vancouver, and the District of West Vancouver.
Vancouver Island-Central Coast (Zone 6)
The Regional Districts of Alberni-Clayoquot, Capital, Central Coast, Comox-Strathcona, Cowichan Valley, Mount Waddington, Nanaimo, and Powell River, and including major centres: Campbell River, Comox, Courtenay, Cumberland, Duncan, Esquimalt, Ladysmith, Nanaimo, North Cowichan, Oak Bay, Ocean Falls, Port Alberni, Port Hardy, Powell River, Saanich, Sayward, Sidney, and Victoria.
North West (Zone 7)
The Regional Districts of Bulkley-Nechako, Kitimat-Stikine, and Skeena-Queen Charlotte and including major centres: Burns Lake, Fort St. James, Houston, Kitimat, Masset, Port Clements, Prince Rupert, Smithers, Stewart, Terrace, and Vanderhoof.
Cariboo-North East (Zone 8)
The Regional Districts of Cariboo, Fort Nelson-Liard, Fraser-Fort George, and Peace River, and including major centres: Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, Fort Nelson, Fort St. John, Hudson Hope, Prince George, Quesnel, Tumbler Ridge, and Williams Lake.

Proof of full time enrolment in an accredited post secondary institution must accompany the application form in order to qualify for the discounted membership fee.
Senior (20+ yrs) — $84.00 (80.00 + 4.00 GST)
Senior Post Secondary discount membership fee (20-22 years only) — $63.00 (60.00 + 3.00 GST)
Proof of full time enrolment in an accredited post secondary institution must accompany the application form in order to qualify for the discounted membership fee.

Criminal Records Checks (CRC's) are required with Coach, Official and Associate memberships and must be current within the past 4 years from the date membership is applied for. CRC's are obtained at local police stations and RCMP detachments. Memberships will be processed when the membership application form and CRC have been submitted for the individual requesting membership.

Individuals who are required to have a current CRC as part of their employment and have a CRC on file with their employer can complete a Voluntary Declaration Form (VDF)
indicating the organization holding the current CRC.
Club members will submit their CRC/VDF to the club Registrar. Clubs will provide a letter on club letterhead for their members explaining the CRC requirement if needed. Club Registrars can contact the BC Athletics office at sam.collier@bcathletics.org for a sample of a letter of introduction/explanation that can be given to their members requiring a CRC.
Unattached members will submit their CRC/VDF to the BC Athletics office. A letter from BC Athletics explaining the requirement for a CRC is available if needed for Unattached members. Please contact Sam Collier at sam.collier@bcathletics.org.

School Membership (from Sept 15 – June 30 only)
BCA School Memberships are valid for all BCA sanctioned competitions held between Sept 15 and June 30. They are also a valid membership for sanctioned competitions outside of BC during the same period. This membership type is not valid for entry in BC Athletics Track & Field Championships or any Athletics Canada Championships. Current School and School District Club Members List
School Day of Event Membership (DOE)—Elementary and High School students only (valid from Sept 15 – June 30 only) — $3/event
For elementary and high school athletes who are not annual members of BC Athletics or members of a BC Athletics School Club or School District Club wishing to participate in eligible sanctioned events.
- Valid for Road Races, Cross Country Meets, Club hosted School Meets during the school year (Sept 15th – June 30th) and All Comers Track & Field Meets
- Paid in addition to the registration fee for entering the event at time of entering each race or meet

Related Membership Information and forms
Club Transfers:
BC Athletics club members who wish to transfer to another club during the membership year are required to have an Application for Club Member Transfer form completed and submitted to the BC Athletics office in order for the transfer to be formally recognized.
2nd Claim Club Status
BC Athletics club members who wish to claim status with a second club during the membership year must complete a Declaration of 2nd Claim Club form and submit it to the BC Athletics office in order for 2nd Claim Club Status to be recognized.
Voluntary Declaration Form
Coach, Official and Associate memberships require Criminal Records Checks as part of the membership application process. The Voluntary Declaration Form can be completed for individuals who have, as part of their employment, a current (within 4 years of the date of membership application) Criminal Records Check on file at their place of employment.
