Employment Opportunity with BC Athletics
Technical Manager — Road and Cross Country Running

BC Athletics, the Provincial Sport Organization for Track & Field, Road & Cross Country Running, Marathons/Ultras and Race Walking is looking for a qualified individual to fill this very important full time position in the Association. Working with staff, committees and volunteers this position is the management and provision of province-wide programs and services for the development and promotion of Road and Cross Country Running. The ideal candidate should be a visionary, energized by the opportunity and have the ability to engage others in the collective achievement of the goals and objectives of the program in British Columbia.

Candidates would benefit from knowledge, training, education and experience in:

  • Athletics at the club, provincial, national and international levels
  • good interpersonal skills and working effectively with volunteers and co-workers
  • effective communication, administration and planning
  • computer work using MS Office and Internet programs
  • Athletics coaching certification or related sport, coaching or sport experience
  • event management and organization
  • a degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Human Kinetics, Recreation, Sport Management or related training

Outline of Responsibilities

Reporting to the President/CEO, the Technical Manager is responsible for the management of the BC Athletics Road and Cross Country Running Programs and Technical Services. These responsibilities are technical and administrative and include but are not limited to:

  1. Programs and Competition/Participation Development
  2. Budget Development
  3. Event Sanctioning
  4. Event Management
  5. Athlete, Coach & Officials Development
  6. BC Athletics Committees - involvement and liaison
  7. Para-Athletics Programs: Program Integration
  8. Club Development and Liaison
  9. BC Team Program
  10. International/National/Provincial/Regional Program liaison
  11. Centres: National, Provincial, Regional - program liaison
  12. BC Athletics Strategic Planning

This is a full time position with BC Athletics. Salary range $40,000 to $48,000 plus benefits and travel. While the preference is for candidates based in the Greater Vancouver Region or willing to relocate, we encourage applications from all interested candidates.
