BC Athletics Registrar Bulletin# 2009-04: September 29, 2009Hi Everybody: The BC Athletics 2010 membership year is about to begin with any new memberships you process beginning October 1, 2009. On Septembers 30th at midnight all access to ACDirect will be terminated and early on the morning of October 1st I will go in and open up access for all clubs who have:
BC Athletics Membership categories for 2010:All membership categories and fees remain the same, EXCEPT FOR THE MASTERS CATEGORY. A change to the Masters membership category was made necessary due to the IAAF changing its definition of masters age groups. Effective in 2010 the IAAF passed the following rule change:
This change made it necessary for BC Athletics to review its’ Masters membership category and align it to the IAAF. The BC Athletics Board of Directors has voted to approve the following change to the Masters membership as of October 1, 2009 and will be formally adopted subject to the approval of the members at the next following general meeting (December 4,5 & 6 2009). The current Masters membership will be replaced by the following two new memberships starting with the 2010 membership year: Masters Road and Trail Running Membership (out of stadia)
and Masters Track & Field Membership (stadia)
This means that for Road and Cross Country Running 35 – 39 year olds are moved back to the “Senior” category as per the BCA membership categories. These two new memberships have been structured as carefully as possible to have as little impact on our members as possible. Because BC Athletics membership allows members to hold multiple membership types most scenarios of participation can be covered without paying more. The exception is with athletes aged 35–39 years who wish compete at the BC Road and Cross Country Championships for medals and be selected to BC Teams. They must compete in the Senior/Open category and are required to have a Senior membership in place ($94.50). An Adult Recreation Runner membership ($36.75) will work for those 35-39 year olds who are Road and Cross Country Runners and are not competing for championship medals. If you aren’t sure what type of memberships your members should have relevant to their participation in the sport please email me and give me the following information and I’ll let you know -
2009 Membership Year Review:Please review your 2009 membership roster and make any corrections that are needed or add any memberships that still need to be entered for the 2009 membership year. This year there have been a larger than normal number of individuals entered with a new membership number when they already had a membership set up on ACDirect. Before entering someone as a new member always check to make sure that they don’t have a membership number on the system. This often happens when people are not consistent with the names they use – example Pat instead of Patricia or Patrick; Bill instead of William etc. In order to catch these memberships enter the last name only in “Search” and check to see what comes up. 2010 ACDirect Invoicing:Starting with the new membership year you will no longer create invoices on the system. Invoicing will happen automatically on the last day of each month. Invoice payments are due no later than 1 month from the date they are created. 2010 BC Athletics Affiliated Club Memberships:Clubs will need to renew their club affiliation memberships before January 1, 2010 in order to keep their benefits, including insurance coverage, un-interrupted. The club membership forms will be updated shortly and will be available on the website. I’ll send out an email when they’re ready. I will have further updates during the year and please remember that I’m here if you need help – just give me a shout. Cheers Have a wonderful Fall! Sam Sam Collier |
