The BC Athletics 2010 8K Road Running Championship will be held in conjunction with the 31st Prairie Inn Pioneer 8K, hosted by the Prairie Inn Harriers at the Saanich Fairgrounds, 1528 Stelly's X Road, Saanichton, north of Victoria on Sunday, January 10.
Race Information
Certified 8K mildly undulating suburban/rural road course. Race records are 22:58 (Carey Nelson) and 26:08 (Debbie Scott). Race starts at 11:00am. Complete race details on the event website: http://pih.bc.ca/pioneer8k.html.
Entry Information

Entry fee is only $17.00 for BC Athletics athlete members until January 4, rising to $32.00 for race day registration.
Championship Eligibility
The Championship portion of the event is open to all Junior, Senior and Masters members of BC Athletics. 2010 BCA memberships must be received by January 8, 2010 in order to be eligible.
Championship Awards
Championship Medals will be presented to:
- The first 3 BCA Junior, Senior, or Masters members overall, men and women.
Championship Ribbons will be presented to:
- The first 3 BCA Junior, Senior, or Masters members, men and women, in each age category: 18-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, ... 100+
High Performance Athletes
- Prize Money: $1,500 in prize money available.
- Complimentary Entry Standards: Men's Open: 25:00; Women's Open: 29:00; Men's Masters (40+): 27:00; Women's Masters (40+): 31:00
- See below for travel assistance for off-island athletes. Transportation is also available to and from the ferry.

Travel Assistance
Through the Sporting Life on the Coast program, BC Ferries and Sport BC will assist with ferry travel costs for athletes participating in the BC Championships. For further details, see the Sport BC website: www.sport.bc.ca/SpecialOffers/BCFerriesSportingLifeontheCoast/. Applications for travel assistance must be received at least two weeks before the Championship.
