BC Athletics 2010 Half Marathon Road Running Championship

The BC Athletics 2010 Half Marathon Road Running Championship will be held in conjunction with the 33rd Annual April Fool's Run Half Marathon from Gibsons to Sechelt, hosted by Sunshine Coast Athletics on Sunday, April 11.

Race Information

Certification pending 13.1 miles (21.1 km) point to point course, mix of large-scale undulations, hills and flats; 100% paved surface. Event records are 1:06:23 (Ryan Day) and 1:18:30 (Suzanne Evans). Race starts at 9:00am. Complete race details on the event website: www.foolsrun.com

Entry fee is only $22.00 for BC Athletics athlete members up to January 15, $27.00 up to March 15, $32.00 up to April 6, and rising to $35.00 on race weekend. $2 discount for 19&U and 60+.

Championship Eligibility

The Championship portion of the event is open to all Junior, Senior and Masters members of BC Athletics. 2010 BCA memberships must be received by April 9, 2010 in order to be eligible.

Championship Medals will be presented to:

  • The first 3 BCA Junior, Senior, or Masters members overall, men and women.

Championship Ribbons will be presented to:

  • The first 3 BCA Junior, Senior, or Masters members, men and women, in each age category: 18-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, ... 100+

High Performance Athletes

  • Event Prize Money: $300/$150/$100 to the top-3 men and women overall. $50 to the top male and female master (40+).
  • NEW Championships Prize Money: for the top 3 eligible men and women ($200, $100, $50). To be eligible, they must be current Junior, Senior or Masters members of BCA.
  • Requests for complimentary entries for elite runners will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Consideration will be given to men who have run under 1:12 and women who have run under 1:25 in the past 18 months, past open top 3 and masters top 1 winners, as well as masters with age-graded results of 90% or more. Please email foolsrun@telus.net with your name, age, gender, personal best performances, and recent 10k, half marathon and marathon performances.

Travel Assistance

Through the Sporting Life on the Coast program, BC Ferries and Sport BC will assist with ferry travel costs for athletes participating in the BC Championships. Applications for travel assistance must be received at least two weeks before the Championship.
