Individuals are encouraged to apply for positions with BC Athletics Teams in the role of Coach (please indicate your interest in taking on the additional responsibility of Head Coach) or Manager. Individuals must meet certain requirements (detailed below) in order to be considered for positions. Selected Coaches and Managers will be required to commit to assisting in Team and Individual Athlete Preparation should that be requested.

BC Athletics encourages both WOMEN & MEN to apply for Team Staff positions and provides through staff assignments the opportunity for a series of progressive experiences appropriate to your training and expertise. In some instances this may include a process of coach and manager mentoring for first time BC Team Coaches and Managers.

Team Coaches are recommended by the Event Groups and Committees from the applications submitted, with the Head Coach selected from the Team Coaches.

When Teams are competing in BC, every effort will be made to select TWO coaches per Event Group in order to provide BC Team opportunities for more coaches. The same principle applies to Team Managers.

July 3-6 Canadian Senior T&F Championships, Windsor ON - Up to 4 coaches and 1 Manager (Jumps, Throws, Middle Distance/Distance, Sprints/Hurdles)
July 25-27 Canadian Junior T&F Championships, Abbotsford BC - Up to 5 coaches and 1 Manager (Jumps, Throws, Middle Distance/Distance, Sprints/Hurdles, Walks and/or Comb Events)
Aug 6-12 Royal Canadian Legion T&F Meet and Camp, Sherbrooke QC - up to 4 coaches and 4 manager/chaperones (Sprints/Hurdles/Relays, Jumps, Throws, Middle Distance/Dist.)

2009

Aug 22-29 Canada Summer Games, Charlottetown PEI - Up to 5 Coaches and 2 Managers (Coaches must have a minimum Level 3 NCCP Certification to be a member of this team.) Sprints/Hurdles/Relays, Jumps, Throws, Middle Distance/Distance, Combined Events

Requirements for Team Staff Consideration

To be considered for any staff positions with BC Athletics Teams you are required to be a current member of BC Athletics, be in good standing, meet any Coaching Certification requirements and ADHERE TO THE COACHES CODE OF CONDUCT. Level refers to complete certification Technical, Theory and Practical.

  1. Canadian Junior and Senior T&F Championships - Head Coach Level 3, all other coaches Minimum Level 2.
  2. National Legion Meet and Camp - Head Coach Level 3, all other coaches Minimum Level 2.
  3. TEAM MANAGERS - Min. Level 1 Theory for all Teams.
  4. Canada Summer Games and Western Canada Summer Games - All Coaches Level 3.
