IN MEMORIAM - NICK WILKES

It is with sadness we report that Nick Wilkes, a former Valley Royal athlete, was taken from us on March 12, 2002. Just 22-years of age, during his years in track and field, Nick will be remembered as one of British Columbia's truly outstanding Junior Development and high school competitors.

Nick was one of this province's best ever 15-year old track and field athletes and he still holds all time "Top 10 Performances" in the following events: Pentathlon (1st), Javelin (2nd), High Jump (2nd). Under the leadership of his coach, Chris Lock, Nick became an outstanding junior multi event performer who won medals at the Canadian Championship level and as a member of the Canadian team placed first in a competition against the United States.

Although Nick gained a track and field scholarship to a United States University, injuries prevented him from continuing with his athletic career and he returned to British Columbia.

Our deepest sympathies are extended to Nick's parents, Anthony and Susan Wilkes, and other members of his family. Funeral services for Nick take place on Monday, March 18 at 1:00 p.m. in Burnett Fellowship Baptist Church, 20639 - 123rd Ave., Maple Ridge. In lieu of flowers, donations to Ronald McDonald House would be appreciated.
