Excellence in Coaching - Junior Development Coach

Jim is a Junior Development Coach with the South Fraser Track and Field Club and assists in a variety schools in the Surrey School District. He has completed his Level 2 NCCP Coaching Certificate and is a positive and encouraging individual who promotes the sport of track and field. He has a long list of JD champions and medallists over this past year and is to be congratulated on his dedication and results.

Richard Collier

Excellence in Coaching - Senior Coach

Richmond, BC

Richard is the Head Coach/Senior Throws coach with Kajaks Track & Field Club and coaches at Vancouver College. Richard serves as a Throws event coordinator on the BC Athletics Juvenile, Junior, Senior Track and Field Committee. This past year Richard was the Head Coach and Throws coach on both the Juvenile/Midget and Senior provincial teams, presented Throws clinics on Vancouver Island, attended the National Technical Congress in Edmonton and acted as Meet Director for the Kajaks International Meet. Three of his athletes set provincial and/or national records in the throwing events. Richard broadened his horizons this year and took on Combined Events and Cross Country coaching.

Frank Reynolds

Excellence in Coaching - Senior Coach

West Vancouver, BC

Frank is the Head Middle Distance and Distance coach with the NorWesters Track and Field Club. He encourages all High School athletes on the North Shore and the Howe Sound region to come out and train with a club, provides advice and as a result 10 new athletes registered with the NorWesters. Frank was a finalist in the Community Leadership awards on the North Shore for Coach of the Year honours. He organized the 3rd Annual Whistler Distance camp as well as camps during Spring Break and Christmas break. This past year Frank was also a national coach for the World Half Marathon team. He is a great support to his athletes and his community. He can also be seen outdoors bird watching and enjoying the sweet sounds of Bluegrass music.

Graeme Fell

Excellence in Coaching - Senior Coach

Vancouver, BC
Vancouver Thunderbird Track and Field Club

Graeme is an active and very busy Vancouver school teacher and coach. Graeme took on the role of Race Director for the Longest Day Race the past two years, he assisted with the Thunderbird Spring Training Camp, with the Thunderbird/UBC winter training camp, is the Osler School coach and is the Head Distance Coach for the Vancouver Thunderbirds. Graeme was selected to the Senior Provincial track and field team as the Distance coach at the Senior Nationals in Winnipeg as well as being the coach of the BC team for the Canadian 10k road championships. He is one of the two distance event coordinators on the Juvenile, Junior Senior Track & Field Committee. Graeme also participated in the National Technical Congress put on by Athletics Canada the past two years.

Wynn Gmitroski

Excellence in Coaching - Senior Coach

Victoria, BC
Pacific Athletics

Wynn has coached many years in British Columbia in Athletics and his skills and expertise have taken him around the globe. He has been to three Olympic Games, six World Championships and three Commonwealth Games. Past athletes include Diane Cummins, Angela Chalmers and Zach Whitmarsh. He owns the Cedar Hill Sports Therapy Clinic and is currently the Head Coach of the Pacific Sport Centre in Victoria, British Columbia. Wynn is also a National Team Middle Distance coach with Athletics Canada.
