David Weicker joins Athletics Canada in Officials’ development role

Athletics Canada is pleased to announce that David Weicker is joining the organization in a key role to support the development of officiating.  The role of Coordinator, Officiating Development has been contracted to David to provide leadership in the development of a comprehensive and sustainable officiating development program.  David will officially begin in this role on March 1^st.     David will serve as the day to day liaison to the National Officials’ Committee (NOC), while also serving a similar capacity on-site at major Canadian Championship events. “I am pleased to be joining the (Athletics Canada) team and am truly excited about bringing my experience to the fold in continuing to assist in the development of Canadian Officials to be the best in the World.” David brings an extensive background in athletics as a former international athlete, national champion, coach, administrator and official.  He is currently one of two NACAC Area Technical Officials and one of a select group of National Technical Officials certified by the International Paralympic Committee.  David is former Chair of the National Officials’ Committee and former Chair and President of Sports Officials Canada.  He also brings a lengthy public sector background in leadership development, financial and human resource management, project management and a general business development.
