The British Columbia Timex
Road Running Series is part of the national
Timex Road Racing Series, held in nine provinces and
culminating in the TransCanada 10K Championships in Ottawa. The BC Series consists of
14 races throughout the year from
January to August, in the Lower Mainland, on Vancouver Island, and in the Interior. All races are sanctioned by
B.C. Athletics, and all courses are certified.
Qualifying for Series Awards
To be considered as a Series participant and thus be eligible for Series
awards, runners 20 years of age and older (as of December 31 of the current year) must complete a
minimum of seven (7) Series races, out of a possible 14. For those 19 yrs. &
under, five (5) races are required for age group prizes, seven (7) races must be
completed to qualify for overall cash prizes.
Note: Where more than one distance is
offered, only participation in the designated Series event is counted.

Scoring Points
You score points in each race based on your finishing position amongst B.C.
runners, both overall and in your age category. The points are assigned as
follows: 1st - 30 points, 2nd - 25, 3rd - 20, 4th - 18, 5th - 16, 6th - 15, 7th
- 14, and so on, down to 20th - 1 point.
Throughout the Series, the points will be added together from your best
seven (7) races, or best five (5) for 19 & Under age group points.

will be posted after each event on this website and at subsequent events. They can also be faxed or

Age Categories
The above scoring system is used for both overall and age category rankings.
The age categories are as follows:
- 19 & Under, 20-24, 25-29, ...every 5 years to... 65-69, 70+.
- Ages are calculated as of August 31, 2008 for Masters, and on December
31, 2008 for everyone else.

Participation Incentive Prize
All those who
complete ten (10) or more races in 2008 will receive a souvenir
technical running t-shirt!

Awards & Awards Presentation
The final Series scores for those completing the required
minimum number of races will determine the male and female recipients of the
following prizes, to be presented following the final race
of the Series.
OVERALL: 1st - $1000, 2nd - $500, 3rd - $300, 4th - $200, from
Timex.*
AGE GROUPS: Top 3 or less (depends on depth) will receive merchandise prizes
from our Series sponsors (TBA).
In addition, a number of Timex watches will be awarded as draw prizes at each
event.
* To receive Timex BC Road Running Series prize money, you must be a
member of BC Athletics: Competitive, Recreational or Masters (this
does not apply to age group prizing).

National 10K Championships
All BC Athletics competitive members who achieve the Performance Standards
listed below are eligible for BC Team selection to compete in the Timex Series
Finale at the 2008 TransCanada 10K Championships in Ottawa. All performances
must be achieved in 2008 sanctioned road races, on certified courses.

Standards for 5 km, 1/2 Marathon and Marathon are based
on the 10 km standards, calculated using the Mercier Tables.

Both individual performances and rankings in
the Timex BC Road Running Series will be considered for Team Selection. Please
