Squamish 10k - rockslide update:
The Squamish Days 10K will go ahead as planned on Sunday, August 3,
but in a simpler format (don’t expect chip timing). However, because
most Timex BC Series participants live on the wrong side of the slide that
has closed Highway 99, the race results won’t count towards the
Series. For those people hoping to contest the final two races to
qualify for Series awards, don’t panic! The 2008 Timex BC Series will
now be scored on the best 6 of 13 placings (rather than 7 of 14). And
if you’ve always wanted to win a Timex watch, your chances of having
your name drawn at the Squamish Days 10K have improved significantly if
you make it there.
Start/Finish:
- Start time 8:30 am
- Starts and finishes at Howe Sound Secondary School in
Squamish (see map).
Course:
- This is a fast, flat, out and back route, accurately
measured with mile and kilometre markers and 3 water stations. Paved shoulder and
minimal traffic. See map
Awards:
- Presented after the event at the school
- Medals to top three in each category and Running Room Gift
Certificates for top 3 overall males and females (values: 1st = $100,
2nd = $75, 3rd = $50).
- 10k age categories: 19 & Under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44,
45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+
- Slavo Lehocky Memorial Trophy will be presented to
the first local finisher.
