1500m

The 1500m is 2 laps of fun followed by 2 minutes of lactic heaven and we are giving anyone that wants at it the chance to hop on Swangard’s sweet rubber surface and give it a go. Come one come all! (Targeted towards U18, U20, & Senior aged athletes)

Saucony ‘Chase the Pace’ 5000m

Chase The Pace V is coming at ya. This time we are going bigger, better and faster than ever (Hopefully!). Join Mile2Marathon Vancouver in partnership with Saucony and BC Athletics  for a night of professionally timed, amateurishly paced 5km time-trials on the track. We’ll have heats for people looking for anything from +25:00 to sub 17:00.

10,000m

Open to both Canadian and International Athletes, the 2019 Canadian 10,000m Championship Event promises to be the highlight of the night! 25 laps of burn baby burn! This is not your average 10,000m and the name of the game is SPEED. In order to facilitate the speed we are setting the entry standards accordingly. Not racing? Grab a piece of the rail and cheer on Canada’s current and future Olympians!

Venue / Weather

Swangard Stadium (Map) is centrally located in the city of Burnaby, BC with rapid transit options only a short walk away. The stadium can hold 4,500 spectators and has a strong history of hosting World Class Track & Field Competitions, including the annual Harry Jerome Track Classic. The Eight lane, 400 metre IAAF certified track was resurfaced in 2017.

Men’s Stadium Record: Armando Quintanilla, MEX, 27:49.24 (1992 Harry Jerome Track Classic)

Women’s Stadium Record: Nora Leticia Rocha, MEX, 32:08:82 (2000 Harry Jerome Track Classic)

We have identified the mid-June as the ideal date for these championships based on historical weather averages. Typical daytime highs are reported at 19.6 degrees while lows are reported at an average of 12.2 degrees with low relative humidity. We plan to contest these Championships late in the evening, after sunset, to take advantage of cooler temps and light winds.
