2023 Pacific Distance Carnival &
Canadian 10,000m Championships

As part of the 2023 Athletics Canada National Track and Field Tour, the 2023 Pacific Distance Carnival & Canadian 10,000m Championships is a Track & Field meet designed to bring new excitementto long distance track racing while also offering Canadian & International Athletes an ideal environment to achieve personal best performances in the lead up to the 2023 World Athletics Championships, 2023 World Para Championships and 2023 Pan Am/Para Pan Am Games. The Pacific Distance Carnival offers both Olympic and Paralympic competitions as well as opportunities for the next generation of athletes to compete alongside current and future Olympians who will compete in the National 10,000m Championships.

Mission

  • Deliver the best environment for our Canadian High Performance Athletes to compete at their full potential, in preparation for the 2023 World Athletics Championships & World Para Championships, 2023 Pan Am/Para Pan Am Games. 
  • Bring a renewed spotlight to Distance Track Racing and the excitement of watching our Nation’s best athletes perform.
  • Provide an opportunity to connect recreational athletes with Canada’s best, allowing them to compete in the same setting.

Embrace the Pace 5000m

For the road running enthusiast, come chase the pace on track! Event will be limited to Athletes with Personal Bests better than 30:00min for both Men and Women.  Heats will be mixed races seeded by time, with heats going from slowest to fastest seed times.  Please note for these races only, NO SHOE CHECKS will be done. Please race in what you are accustomed to!

Canadian National 10,000m Championships

Open to both Canadian and International Athletes, the 2023 Canadian 10,000m Championship Event promises to be the highlight of the night! 25 laps of burn baby burn! This is not your average 10,000m and the name of the game is SPEED. In order to facilitate the speed we are setting the entry standards accordingly. Not racing? Come watch track side in the beer garden or tune in to our FREE live broadcast and cheer on Canada’s current and future Olympians!

Men: 31:30 (5,000m Equivalent: 14:53.00)
Women: 36:00 (5,000m Equivalent: 17:03.00)

Qualifying Window: January 1, 2022 – June 12th, 2023
Open to both Canadian & International Athletes

10,000m Travel Grants

Athletes (located outside of the Lower Mainland) are encouraged to apply for one of six $500 travel assistance grants (3 male, 3 female). Applications will open April 1, 2023 and close June 1, 2023. *Non-Canadians are encouraged to apply but Top Canadian athletes will be given preference.

Subventions de déplacement pour le 10 000 m

10,000m Prize Money 

Canadian Championship prize monies will be awarded to the top 4 Canadians. Open prize monies will be awarded to the overall top 4 (Canadians are eligible to collect both).
