2015 BATTLE of the BORDER Track & Field Meet Set for Kamloops, April 25

October 28th, 2014

Revelstoke, BC: The date and location for the 2015 Edition of the Battle has been set - April 25, 2015 - Hillside Stadium, Kamloops, BC. The "Battle" brings together High School Track & Field athletes from Calgary, Southern Alberta and British Columbia to Kamloops for what has become a great kick-off to the High School Outdoor Track & Field Season.

The "Battle of the Border" High School Track & Field Meet is the creation on Andy Pfeiffer, Head Coach, Revelstoke High School Avalanche Track & Field Team. "Each year the "Battle" gets bigger and better as more schools commit to taking part in the Meet. It is the kind of Track & Field Meet that really works in creating interest, promoting Track & Field and getting the athletes energized. School and Provincial pride are on the line and as a result team building and support for their teammates are benefits that come with such an event", said Pfeiffer.

The City of Kamloops and the Kamloops TF Club are key partners in the event with the Club forming the core of the host organizing committee and officiating crew and the City of Kamloops making their Tournament Capital Centre facilities available to the visiting athletes and coaches. "We look forward to hosting this event each year", said Judy Armstrong, President, Kamloops TFC. "The Club takes pride in being a key sport in the "Tournament Capital of Canada" and showcasing what is one of the best Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field facilities in the nation. Plus - the opportunity to continue the development and promotion of Track & Field to the High School athletes and coaches aligns completely with the goals of the Kamloops TFC, BC Athletics and Athletics Canada," concluded Armstrong.

"BC Athletics is always looking for opportunities to connect to the next generation of athletes and coaches", said Garrett Collier, BC Athletics T&F Technical Manager. "Provincial age group teams, Canada Games and Western Canada Games are great opportunities for high school athletes to set their sights on as they develop and look for the next opportunity in the athlete pathway to National Teams. We are very happy to be connected to the "Battle of the Border" T&F Meet, a meet that  provides a chance for us to connect with the athletes and their school and personal coaches - making them aware of the programs, support and opportunities that exist and are available to them as they continue in Track & Field", said Collier.
