The 50 mile (80km) course will consist of 4 loops of approximately 20km, with the 20km loop divided into approximately 12km and 8km legs for the relay. The 50 mile total distance will be certified. Unfortunately it will not be eligible as a Western States qualifier in this first year.

Ultra runners will run 4 laps of approximately 20km each.

The 8 individuals on a Relay team will run alternating legs of approximately 12km, 8km, 12km, 8km, ... 12km, 8km.

The two relay exchange points are in the parking lot of the Whistler Golf Club (through the Hwy 99 underpass near the Whistler Conference Centre), and adjacent to Passivhaus across Fitzsimmons Creek from the day parking lots. While your teammate is running, you can stroll through Whistler Village and pickup a coffee, as you walk between the Exchange points.

The course is traffic free with minimal road crossings, and the exchanges for the relay are within walking distance. There will be aid stations approximately every 4km. There is no need to use a vehicle at the event.

The course is largely on the Valley Trail system. Approximately 13km of each loop is on paved trail, and the remaining 7km are on wide, hard packed, gravel trails (click images to enlarge).

The course is mildly undulating, with the difference between the lowest and highest points approximately 220 feet (i.e. no major climbs or descents). See elevation chart

Please note, the trails are open to the public. Always keep to the right of the trail, except when passing or otherwise directed by a race official. And be courteous to other trail users at all times.

Note also, from 5k to 7.5k the course is on private property. You will not be able to run this flat and paved section of the course except on race day. If you plan to pre-run the course, please bypass this section by using Nicklaus North Blvd.

Relay exchange protocol: incoming runners enter the exchange station and swipe the timing chip over the timing mat located on the table. The outgoing runner waits in the exchange area beyond the timing mat and it is here that the timing chip exchange takes place.

There will be a forced start of leg 8 runners at Passivhaus at 4pm for teams that have not complete leg 7 by that time.
