MARCH 2006 - Newsletter #2Welcome to the second RunJumpThrow newsletter. It's been a busy and exciting three months, dozens of instructors certified and thousands of children getting expert instruction in RunJumpThrow. Please note the important information regarding the online CAC Ethics Module and NCCP certification and the March 31st tracking deadline. RunJumpThrow Highlights:
RunJumpThrow Nelson wins Track MeetSheila Street was certified as a RunJumpThrow instructor in October 2005 and just a few months later she produced a winning team. Sheila has been coaching a small, but enthusiastic, group through Nelson Parks and Recreation. The team attended the Trail Elementary School Track meet in January - and won! Congratulations Sheila! You can read about Sheila's success in the RJT News section of the website. February RJT BlitzWe ran 4 instructor workshops and had another 4 presentations in February alone. From Surrey to Gibsons, RJT Instructors and Master Learning Facilitators were out promoting RJT and met with fantastic response from teachers and coaches. See the upcoming activities section for more information about spring and summer RJT activities. RunJumpThrow is coming to the Vancouver Sun Run!48,000 10km participants, and over 1500 mini sun run participants, will be running, jogging and walking to BC Place Stadium on Sunday April 23rd for the post-race party. Inside, RunJumpThrow instructors will be putting on demonstrations and letting children try out their skills with equipment and play games. Certification as an RJT Instructor - NCCP Ethics Module Online NowThe Coaching Association of Canada recently launched an online version of the NCCP Ethics Module. RunJumpThrow instructors that have completed the Instructor Workshop must take this module to become certified. CAC has emailed instructions to all instructors in their database on the procedures for this 1-hour module. For more information visit www.coach.ca. *Please note: Instructors who completed an RJT Workshop in 2006 have not been entered in the NCCP database yet. Please wait for an email from the CAC before attempting to take the ethics module. Tracking - needed by March 31It is imperative that we track the delivery of RJT throughout the province to meet our funding and reporting requirements and do our part to increase physical activity by 20% by 2010. Tracking forms can be downloaded here: PDF | Excel. Please send completed forms to runjumpthrow@bcathletics.org for our database. If your numbers are too large, or you don't have the time to complete the form, please send us an email with the number of children, age range and city of instruction. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us. Upcoming RunJumpThrow Activities:March 2006
