Race Walk (or Racewalk) is an endurance sport and a division of BC Athletics. Race walking differs from Speed Walking, in that the former is a judged race, while the latter is not. Race walking differs from other long distance foot races, in that one foot must be in contact with the ground at all times. Competitions for race walk can be conducted on a road surface or on a synthetic track surface. On the track, competitive distances range from 3Km to 20Km. At the Olympic games road distances include the 20Km (men & women) and the 50Km (men only).
