2020 BC XC Championships Cancelled

Nov 7 Update - The BC Cross Championships have been cancelled for 2020.
At this time the Provincial Health Officer is not recommending travel in/out of the Lower Mainland to prevent the transmission of COVID 19.

We remind all athletes to choose 1 sport, 1 group to run with and only run in groups every 2 weeks. Know who you are running with and stay home if you are feeling unwell in any way.

Thank you to the Vancouver Thunderbirds and Nigel for their work with us on trying to make a 2020 Championship come together.

Posted Sept 30 - The XC Committee has decided best to postpone the event to later in the season and to move the event to the Lower Mainland for one year to mitigate some travel requirements.

The Vancouver Thunderbirds have agreed to host and together with BC Athletics are working to secure a venue.

It is NOT a given the event will go ahead yet, there are a huge number of hurdles to jump for permissions and safety protocols.

Nov 2 Update - We have 3 possible venues in the Lower Mainland, BUT we are required to get a Provincial Health Officer exemption, as our total numbers over the two days are a concern. The event would now be required to do this, no matter the venue / region / health authority. The plan was submitted on October 16 and we hope to hear back soon. We will update as we now more.

It was clear the event would not be able to take place in October and we are exploring all posibilities to keep this event on the calendar. Event modifications to fit with current mass gathering restrictions have not been decided as this time. More information will be posted as confirmed.

The Prairie Inn Harriers, will serve as a back up location for 2020 and the Championship will return to Vancouver Island for 2021.
