The Safe Sport Fund

Starting with the 2027 membership year, every BC Athletics member will contribute $10.00 to a new Safe Sport Fund as a collective commitment to ensure that every participant in our sport has a positive experience. 

The fee is collected once per member, on the first membership purchased in 2027. If a member adds additional membership types later in the year, they are not charged again. It applies across our membership, to athletes, coaches, officials and sport leaders alike, including club board members, staff and volunteers, so club leadership contributes alongside the athletes they serve. Members holding only a Track Rascals or the Athletics Canada Community Road and Trail membership are exempt.

The Fund supports Safe Sport education and training for clubs across the province, access to an independent process for handling complaints, and the capacity to respond to complaints and claims, some of which relate to conduct that predates current policies and protections.

Shared across our membership, this work becomes manageable, and it becomes a commitment to Safe Sport that we make together.
