Ken Bogas Sr
We are very sad to pass on news of the death of Ken Bogas (Senior). Ken passed away on March 20, 2012 in Richmond.
The obituary appeared in the Vancouver Sun, Saturday, March 24, page C8.
He will be remembered with great affection by BC Athletics officials, as a long-serving and expert Chief Timer, and Jury member.
He had a happy ability to take in groups of new volunteers, and turn them quickly into effective teams of timers; a tribute to his technical knowledge, his charm, and the power of his love of people.
Ken and Mary hosted Officials Committee meetings for years. We recall, with gratitude, his wise counsel as a Committee member, and Mary's contributions of fabulous pies.
Ken received the Ralph Coates Award for long service to BC Athletics in 1994, and was recognized by Athletics Canada for 25 Years of volunteer service in 1998.
